Public Content Standards

These Public Content Standards (“Content Standards”) describe what you may and may not do with LoreBook (“we”, “us”, or “our”). They are part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to follow this policy.

Two contexts. LoreBook includes a private writing studio (app.lorebook.ai) and optional public publication on read.lorebook.ai. Rules for private use and public publication are listed separately below.

Part A — Private studio

Your projects, Codex, Beacon chats, and drafts are private to your account unless you explicitly publish a snapshot. Part A applies to all private studio use.

1. Allowed uses (private)

LoreBook is built for writers creating fictional worlds. Permitted uses include:

  • Original fiction, screenplays, game writing, and worldbuilding.
  • Brainstorming, drafting, editing, and organizing lore in your Codex.
  • Mature or explicit fictional content where your account and AI setup allow it (see Section 3).
  • Reasonable transformation of copyrighted material (analysis or summary) under fair use; verbatim reproduction is not permitted (see Section 2).
  • Exporting your work for your own use outside the Service.

2. Prohibited content and conduct (private)

You must not use the Service to create, store, or solicit:

  • Violence and illegal acts. Do not promote or facilitate violence, terrorism, or any unlawful activity. This includes instructions or advice on committing crimes (for example, hacking, manufacturing weapons, or defrauding others).
  • Harassment and hate. Do not generate hate speech, harassment, or defamation against individuals or groups. Content that threatens or encourages violence against protected classes is prohibited where applicable law forbids it.
  • Self-harm. Do not solicit content that encourages self-harm, suicide, or dangerous behaviors.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or sexual content depicting real minors. We report apparent CSAM to authorities where required by law (see Appendix C).
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery of real people, or content that sexualizes real individuals without consent.
  • Privacy and personal data. Do not use the Service to scrape or reveal others’ private information (addresses, ID numbers, biometrics) without consent. Do not request the AI to profile or identify real people.
  • Copyright and intellectual property. Do not ask the AI to reproduce copyrighted books, songs, or proprietary code at length. Reasonable transformation (analysis or summary) may be permitted under fair use, but verbatim reproduction is disallowed. Do not impersonate others or forge identities. If you export or share work outside the Service, you are responsible for clearing any rights needed to do so.
  • Spam and fraud. No spamming, phishing, or deceptive schemes. Do not use the Service for bulk unsolicited messaging or to create disinformation campaigns.
  • System security. Do not try to hack, overload, or undermine the system. No bots, scrapers, or automated queries beyond normal personal use of the app. Do not circumvent rate limits or use the Service primarily as a proxy for unrelated commercial API access.

3. Sexual content and explicit (NSFW) fiction

LoreBook supports mature fictional projects for eligible accounts. By default, explicit projects require your own OpenAI API key; included AI tokens may not be used for explicit content unless we enable that for your account.

Even where explicit fiction is permitted, you must still comply with this policy, applicable law, and your AI provider’s rules. The following are always prohibited regardless of project settings:

  • Child sexual abuse material or sexual content involving real minors.
  • Sexual exploitation or non-consensual intimate imagery of real people.
  • Content that sexualizes real individuals without their consent.

4. AI outputs are not professional advice

LoreBook’s AI write, expand, rewrite, and brainstorm features generate suggestions based on your inputs. Outputs are not medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Do not rely on the Service for medical or legal decisions—consult a qualified professional. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated text.

5. Enforcement

If content you generate or your behavior violates these rules, we may delete the content, warn you, limit features, suspend your account, or terminate your access. Repeat or egregious violations may lead to a permanent ban. We reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement for illegal activities.

We may investigate reports and signals from AI providers or automated safeguards. We are not obligated to monitor all content in advance. Account bans related to policy violations are not compensated. Unused included AI tokens have no cash value.

Part B — Public publication (LoreBook Read)

When you publish on LoreBook Read, the following additional rules apply to the published snapshot and public profile fields. Explicit/adult publication on Read is not offered in the current release.

8. Publicly prohibited content

You must not publish content that includes:

  • illegal content or instructions materially facilitating serious crime;
  • child sexual abuse material or sexual exploitation;
  • non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • credible threats, targeted harassment, or unlawful hate content;
  • doxxing or publication of private personal data;
  • defamatory factual claims about identifiable people or impersonation intended to deceive;
  • copyright or trademark infringement or unauthorized reproduction;
  • malware, phishing, fraud, or spam;
  • content violating court orders or binding legal restrictions.

Fictional depiction, criticism, and public-interest context are distinguished from real-world facilitation or unlawful targeting. Moderation considers context, not keywords alone.

9. Public enforcement and reporting

We may restrict, unpublish, or remove published content that violates these standards. Report public URLs at lorebook.ai/report or [email protected]. Copyright complaints: Copyright Policy. Appeals: Appeals Policy.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always at lorebook.ai/content-policy. Material changes to content rules may be announced in advance (see Appendix B).

Appendix A — Moderation process

LoreBook is a private studio and optional public reader. We do not proactively review all private content. Moderation may include:

  • Safeguards applied by underlying AI providers when you use included AI or bring your own API key.
  • Investigation of reports received via Help chat or [email protected].
  • Manual review of edge cases by our team.

Appendix B — Transparency

We maintain this policy at a stable public URL and update the “Last updated” date when rules change. Any major changes to disallowed categories will be announced in advance where practicable (for example, by email or in-app notice).

Appendix C — Child protection

Content involving minors is heavily restricted. Sexual content depicting real minors or child sexual abuse material is strictly prohibited. We will report any apparent child exploitation content to authorities (for example, NCMEC) as required by law.

Appendix D — AI transparency

LoreBook uses AI to assist with writing and worldbuilding. Text generated by AI features in the studio is AI-generated output. Today the Service does not generate images or audio.

In compliance with transparency requirements such as the EU AI Act, we make users aware that AI features produce synthetic text. If we add synthetic media features in the future (for example, images or audio), any such content shared publicly will be labeled “AI-Generated.”
