Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the LoreBook websites and applications (including lorebook.ai, app.lorebook.ai, and read.lorebook.ai) and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

The Service is operated by [Legal Entity Name], a company organized under the laws of the State of Israel, with its registered office at [Registered Address, Israel] (“LoreBook”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Security Policy, and our Public Content Standards, and our Publication Terms when you publish on LoreBook Read. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

LoreBook is a private, AI-assisted writing studio. You can draft stories, brainstorm with an AI assistant, build a Codex (characters, places, lore, and related worldbuilding), and export your work. When you choose to publish, selected work may appear on read.lorebook.ai as a separate public snapshot. The Service is currently offered on an invite-only, early-access basis. Features may change, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

Private by default. Your projects and drafts are private by default. LoreBook makes content publicly available only when you deliberately complete the publication flow. Publishing applies only to the version and public information identified in that flow; later private edits remain private until you publish an update.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that AI outputs will be accurate, original, complete, or suitable for any purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and using outputs at your own discretion.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (United States) or 16 years old (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or equivalent minimum in your country) to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.

You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share your account or use automated means to access the Service beyond normal personal use.

Access may require an invitation. We may deny, waitlist, revoke, or suspend access at any time, including for violations of these Terms or our Content Policy.

3. Your content

3.1 Definitions

  • Inputs” means text and other material you submit to the Service, including story prose, Codex entries, brainstorm messages, prompts, and project settings.
  • Outputs” means text and suggestions generated by the Service’s AI features based on your Inputs, including drafted prose and Codex suggestions.
  • Private Content” means Inputs, Outputs, drafts, Codex, Beacon conversations, and unpublished revisions that are not part of a published snapshot.
  • Published Content” means the public snapshot you explicitly choose to publish on LoreBook Read, including selected public metadata and pen-name profile fields.

3.2 Ownership

As between you and LoreBook, you retain any copyright and other intellectual property rights you have in your Inputs and Outputs, subject to these Terms. LoreBook does not claim ownership of your creative work. Ownership of AI-generated content may be limited or uncertain in some jurisdictions and may also be subject to third-party AI provider terms (including when you use BYOK). You are responsible for how you use, publish, or commercialize Outputs outside the Service.

Private Content is not published by LoreBook unless you complete the publication flow. Published Content is made available on LoreBook Read subject to the Publication Terms. If you export or share your work outside the Service, you remain responsible for clearing any rights needed to do so.

3.3 License to LoreBook (private studio)

By using the Service, you grant LoreBook a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, display, host, store, back up, encrypt, process, transmit to AI providers as needed, and otherwise use your Private Content only as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service. This license does not permit us to publicly distribute your creative work or use it to train generalized AI models for LoreBook.

We do not use your Inputs or Outputs to train generalized AI models for LoreBook.

This license continues only as long as needed for the purposes above and as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, limited backup retention, operational logs, or legal obligations). Your creative Private Content is private to your account. Public distribution of Published Content is governed by the Publication Terms.

3.4 Publication

You may publish selected work on LoreBook Read only through the explicit publication flow in the app. You must be at least 18 years old to publish publicly. Publication creates a separate snapshot; editing your private project does not update the public version until you publish an update.

3.5 Your responsibilities

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your Inputs and that your use of the Service does not violate any law or third-party rights (including copyright, trademark, privacy, and publicity rights). You will not submit material you do not have permission to use, including confidential information or third-party content you are not authorized to upload.

If your Inputs or Outputs infringe someone else’s intellectual property or contain confidential data you lack rights to use, you may be liable. You must not upload or request content that violates others’ copyrights or trademarks—for example, do not ask the AI to generate verbatim copies of copyrighted books or songs.

3.6 Attribution (optional)

Unless we specify otherwise, you have no legal obligation to credit LoreBook when you use or share Outputs. We encourage you to cite “Generated by LoreBook” when sharing AI-generated text publicly, but it is not required.

3.7 Licensing clarifications

LoreBook does not claim ownership of your Inputs or Outputs. The license in Section 3.3 is non-exclusive. If you cancel, downgrade, or delete your account, you retain your creative assets to the fullest extent permitted by law, subject to limited backup and legal retention described in our Privacy Policy.

4. AI features and third-party providers

LoreBook offers AI writing, brainstorming, lore extraction, and related features. You may use the Service in two ways:

  • Your own API key (“BYOK”): You may connect a key from a supported provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or Requesty). Your relationship with that provider—including billing, acceptable use, and ownership terms—is governed by the provider’s agreements. LoreBook is not responsible for provider outages, refusals, charges, or policy enforcement by the provider.
  • Included AI tokens: LoreBook may grant a limited, revocable allowance of AI usage at no charge. Allowances, models, and routing may change. When your allowance is exhausted, AI features may be blocked until you connect BYOK or we replenish your allowance at our discretion. Included tokens have no cash value and are not refundable.

When you use included AI, requests may be routed through LoreBook’s gateways to underlying model providers. AI outputs are not professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. In addition to our Content Policy (Acceptable Use & Content Moderation), you must not:

  • Use the Service for illegal activity, fraud, or unauthorized access.
  • Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or harm others.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or circumvent technical limits (including rate limits) except where law expressly permits.
  • Use bots or bulk automation beyond normal personal use of the app.
  • Impersonate LoreBook staff or misrepresent your affiliation with LoreBook.

We may investigate violations and remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts at our discretion.

6. LoreBook intellectual property

LoreBook’s name, logos, software, and interface are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable license to use the Service while your account is active and in good standing. If you provide feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

7. Copyright

Copyright notices, counter-notices, and repeat-infringer handling are described in our dedicated Copyright Policy. Send notices to [email protected] or use the Report content form.

8. Termination

By you: You may delete your account from account settings or, while on the waitlist, using “Remove my email.” Deletion ends your access and removes your creative data as described in our Privacy Policy.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account or revoke your invitation for any reason, including breach of these Terms or our Content Policy, with notice where required by law. Accounts with no sign-in for 12 consecutive months may be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy (Section 8 and Section 11).

Sections that by their nature should survive (including licenses limited to backups and legal retention, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law) will survive termination.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LoreBook will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid LoreBook for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) 100 ILS.

We are not liable for acts or omissions of third-party AI providers or for content you publish outside the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have mandatory rights under local law that cannot be waived by these Terms.

11. Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LoreBook and its affiliates, officers, and employees from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your Inputs or Outputs, your misuse of the Service, or any intellectual property infringement or other third-party claims arising from your content or conduct.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The competent courts in Tel Aviv–Yafo, Israel shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence where applicable.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the current version at lorebook.ai/terms and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may also notify you by email or in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires otherwise.
